But if you want to start reading warhammer 40k books, the it is best to get a good grounding in what the setting is like, and get a general feeling of the mood, tone and concepts. Someone asked me on twitter recently if i’d written anything about where to get started with reading black library books, for someone just getting into warhammer 40,000. Best introduction to main 40k. But don’t worry, by consulting basic documentation such as the warhammer 40k book and the rule book, you’ll become an expert much faster than you think.

Wanna read some 40k novels but don�t know where to start? I also really enjoyed the word bearers series, which begins with dark apostle, if you would. I guess starting with the horus heresy series is not a bad idea, but i think it takes away all the fun of recognizing certain things in hh. It is the start of a trilogy and i only vaguely remember books 2 and 3, so my strong recommendation here only applies to dark apostle itself.

Like fulgrim, legion is part of the sprawling horus heresy series, including books like fallen angels, scars, and corax.
